Bryan and Mike have been thinking about summer a lot after Bike magazine recently awarded Crested Butte the Best Mountain Biking Destination. Not only does Crested Butte pick up the award for Best Mountain Biking Destination, but also received best climb, best tight and twisting trail, and honorable mention trail of the year in the March 2009 issue of Bike magazine.
The Elk Mountain Lodge has a big bike storage room with a bike stand. We have all the maps and books you need, and love sending people out on the best trails.
The new yurt just west of Crested Butte, on the Nordic trail system, is a special place that locals and tourists have been enjoying a lot this year. I have been to two Sunday brunches and just hosted my son’s 1st birthday there. The yurt is nestled among the pines and surrounded by peaks in the peaceful setting of Magic Meadows. Ski or snowshoe there, guided or on your own, for lunch, brunch, picnics, dessert in the moonlight or your own special occasion. Warm and cozy, comfortably furnished and ready for you to build your own cracking fire. Guided Gourmet Lunch tours and Full Moon Dessert tours are offered. Call 970-349-1707 or visit www.cbnordic.org
