Winter is here in Crested Butte and we are thoroughly enjoying it! The streets of town are covered with snow and the Elk Mountain Lodge provides an inviting glow to Crested Butte’s visitors.

Even though it is mid-January, there are still a lot of events to keep you busy during your stay to Crested Butte.

Mountain High Music Festival

The Mountain High Music Festival is taking place now! The Music Festival brings in musicians and songwriters from across the country to create an eclectic blend of performances that are sure to please your ear. Randonee races are fun & can get you in shape for backountry touring in Crested Butte.

Randonee Races

Try your hand at randonee racing! Griggs Orthopedics is putting on a series of FREE races with food, beer, and a raffle all waiting for you when you make it to the top! The race takes place on the Daytime Uphill route at Crested Butte Mountain Resort. The next race is on January 25th. For more details visit the CBMR website.

Enjoying the Outdoors at Night

There are many ways to enjoy the Crested Butte Outdoors at night! For example, you could put on your cross-country skis or snowshoes and head out into the Slate River backcountry for one mile to find the Magic Meadows Yurt. Once there, you can enjoy a nice dinner, which must be reserved. The next available dates are for January 24th and February 7th.

Are you looking for a way to enjoy the full moon? The next full moon is on February 3rd. To celebrate the full moon, Crested Butte Mountain Resort is having a Moonlight Snowshoe Tour. An $85 package gives you shuttle transportation, rentals for snow shoes an poses, hot drinks, and a snack. Visit the CBMR website for more details.

Happy Holidays!

The Holidays are a time for gatherings, baking delicious foods, and creating lasting memories! And we’re honored to share in the memory making with you!

This year we’ve been blessed to have an abundance of snow and spirits are high. The ski area had a record opening with 6 lifts spinning on day one, and more new terrain is opening as the snow continues to favor our area!

This year abundant snowfall allowed the Crested Butte Nordic Center to host their annual Thanksgiving Ski Camp 100% in town!
